Who We Are
Why NAAM?
Kenya’s media landscape is broken. Profit-driven headlines and filtered political theartrics drown out the voices of workers, farmers, the youth and the people at large.
NAAM is a radical alternative—an independent, people-first media cooperative combining investigative journalism, grassroots storytelling, and Marxist analysis to expose systemic injustice and amplify people’s struggles.
We’re building NAAM right now—finalizing our cooperative structure, training community reporters, and preparing hard-hitting investigations.
What’s Happening Behind the Scenes?
We’re not just launching a newsroom — we’re building a new way to tell the truth. While we prepare for launch, here’s what’s underway:
Building the Cooperative
Finalizing governance for a member-led media model where journalists, workers, and readers share ownership.
Editorial Pipeline
Investigative teams are tracking corruption, land grabs, and labor rights abuses—stories the mainstream ignores.
Community Journalism Network
Recruiting and training grassroots reporters from Nairobi’s estates to rural counties.
Digital Infrastructure
Developing secure tools for whistleblowers and data-driven storytelling.
This is a media uprising in the making: transform how stories are told in Kenya and beyond.
Mission & Manifesto
Telling the stories power ignores
We exist to fill the silence mainstream media leaves behind – with facts, with fire, and with fairness.
Our Vision
Telling the stories power ignores
NAAM is more than a news outlet. We’re a movement:
- Investigative Journalism: Uncovering corruption and state violence.
- People’s Narratives: Centering workers, peasants, and activists.
- Marxist Analysis: Connecting local struggles to global capitalist systems.
- Creative Resistance: Platforming revolutionary art, music, and essays.
We reject “neutral” journalism. Our loyalty is to the working class.
NAAM is a member-led media cooperative, where journalists, workers, and readers share ownership, profits, and editorial power. No billionaires. No clickbait. Just the truth.
Support NAAMOur Story
Born from the Independent People’s Lab (IPL), NAAM is the next phase in a movement to democratize media and empower everyday citizens.
Editorial Independence & Ethics
Independent, fearless, and unapologetically people-powered, NAAM exists to expose injustice, amplify grassroots voices, and challenge elite-controlled narratives. In a media landscape flooded with profit-driven noise, we deliver sharp investigations, bold analysis, and storytelling that cuts to the root of inequality.
With a digital-first lens and a pulse on the streets, NAAM speaks to youth, workers, and the marginalized — not for clicks, but for change.
NAAM is funded by its cooperative members and independent supporters. Our content is free from corporate or government influence. We adhere to a strict code of editorial transparency, accuracy, and radical integrity.
